About

Tim Hicks

Hi.  My name is Tim Hicks.  In my life, I’ve been (and am) a lot of things.  I’ve been a professional wrestling personality, a minister of the Gospel, an author, a business owner, an accountant and a computer technician, just to name a few.  For the purposes of this site, we’ll stick with one other role I’ve played and that is the role of webmaster.

I’ve been building websites for myself and others since 1996.  In that time, I’ve learned some things that work really well and I’ve discovered a few things that don’t work worth a hill of beans.

The purpose of this site is to share what I’ve learned with you so that you may avoid some of the headaches and fruitless all-nighters that I’ve been through.

This site is not designed to be a primer for coding HTML, PHP or any other language, although we will get into those topics a little bit.  No, this site is geared to giving you tips, tricks and resources to take your site from the idea stage to the World Wide Web as quickly and painlessly as possible.

As we go along, you’ll notice a few things about this site and the way I run it.  First off, you’ll notice that I write like I talk.  So, be prepared for a grammatical error or colloquialism every now and again.  Secondly, you’ll discover that I don’t believe in “reinventing the wheel” or doing something just for the sake of doing it.  And finally, you’ll find out that I like to build simple, straight forward websites.  I’m not a big fan of fancy, artistic websites that do nothing but hog a visitor’s system resources.  No, I believe in clean, professional and functional.  Maybe that’s the accountant in me coming through.

All visitors are welcome to post constructive comments and questions.  After all, this is meant to be a learning experience and a pleasant exchange.  Rude or inappropriate comments will be deleted so fast the breeze will part your hair.

Well, folks, I appreciate your visiting today and I hope that we can create a site that you’ll want to return to often.
